Silva: Bobb signing shows Fulham want to be competitive in top half of PL

Fulham boss Marco Silva feels the arrival of winger Oscar Bobb from Manchester City on a five-year deal shows the club are determined to remain competitive in the top half of the Premier League.

The 22-year-old has moved to Craven Cottage in what is understood to be a £27m deal and offsets the departure of Adama Traore to West Ham.

Silva takes his side to Manchester United on Sunday looking to keep them in contention for the top six and believes the signing of young talent like Bobb can set them in good stead for the future.

“I am very pleased, definitely, because I think is a very, very good move from ourselves,” Silva told a press conference.

“Now it is a matter of us to work with him, to put him in the best physical condition he can be, because I am sure that (he) is going to be a very good signing for the football club.

“If you are going to spend the money we did in a player like Oscar – a young player like him that is going to help us until the end of the season and for the future – of course we have to put it in a long-term project for him.

“He has had some moments in some games in a Man City shirt, but for the national team, he is already a starting level player and is going to be in the World Cup.

“He is a player that we truly believe was a great move from ourselves and he will of course show his quality, but at the same time we have to freshen things (up) a little bit.”
